Lale Mahallesi'nin Dilekçesi

Lale Mahallesi'ndeki 8. sınıf öğrencileri belediyeye bir dilekçe (petition) hazırladı. 412 kişi imzaladı. Dilekçedeki tablo şöyle:

Yapı: am / is / are + fiilin 3. hâli. "Water is supplied by the water authority."

(1) The park was renovated by the council last summer.
(2) 40 new trees were planted in the main square.
(3) The streetlights were repaired in September.

Geçmişte edilgen: was / were + 3. hâl. Tekil özne (the park) was, çoğul (trees, streetlights) were. Mini soru: "The cycle lane ___ opened in 2025." Tekil özne: was.

Olursa Ne Olur? If

Ada: Our street has no cycle lane.
Berk: If they build one, more people will cycle to school.
Ada: And if more people cycle, there will be less traffic.

İki koşul zincir gibi bağlandı: birinin sonucu ötekinin koşulu oldu. Her iki cümlede de if tarafı geniş zaman (build, cycle), sonuç tarafı will.

Yeterince Geniş Değil: Not … Enough

"The pavements aren't wide enough for two people to walk side by side." Yetersizlik bildirmek için sıfat + enough olumsuz cümlede kullanılır. Aynı fikir "too" ile tersinden söylenebilir: "The pavements are too narrow."

Fazladan Zamir: Sık Yapılan Hata

Sık yapılan hata: "The library which it opened last year is very modern." "Which" zaten kütüphanenin yerini tutuyor; "it" fazladır. Doğrusu: "The library which opened last year is very modern."

İkinci yanılgı: edilgende işi yapanı "from" ile vermek: "The park was renovated from the council." İşi yapan her zaman "by" ile gelir.

Köprü: Yol Tarifinde Edilgen

Bu ünitenin eski özeti yol tarifi üzerineydi. 8. sınıfta tarif cümleleri edilgen ve sıfat cümleciğiyle zenginleşir:

Tourist: Excuse me, how can I get to the new library?
Local: Go straight ahead and turn left at the traffic lights. It's the glass building which was opened last year, across from the bank.

Local: Not really, about 300 metres.
